I am an Industrial Designer

who is henry?

I am an industrial design student at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).  I am striving to achieve my dream of becoming the world's best designer. I am building my foundation skills to develop my own strengths. These will eventually play out as my ability to expand the perspective of design. It is my deepest passion to create simple, yet detailed, and effective design for products. Creating a product that is familiar, but also unique is my goal.

New york

Year 2014, I worked in multiple companies to expand my skills and knowledge. Donghia and Rux Design were the companies I worked for. Great experiences with great people!

My current home, and where I was living before SCAD. From here, I got to appreciate the coexistence of nature and urban surroundings.  Accessibility to all kinds of environments is the what I love about the city.

Seoul is where I was born and raised until the end of my elementary school years. Most of my childhood memories belong to this city. Seoul is big part of me as a person and as a designer.

Design Process

These are the steps I take to design products

All the projects have their own unique steps to get to the final stages. Some require more detailed research to understand and improve the product to a whole other level. Harmony within each team is critical as cooperation leads to maximum results.

Required actions vary by what role I take. As a leader, there are many aspects I need to consider to bring out the best scenario. Not only do I evaluate the teammates' strengths and weakness to assign their tasks, but also have to think about my role as a part of the team. Being able to listen to another opinion is crucial. The leader should not be biased on any one element, in order to think more logically.

As a group member, I often evaluate what my tasks are; this being important to communicate well with the team, to bring out the most optimal results. Under frustrating situations, asking another's advice is not a bad thing to do. Before sharing my thoughts, I always listen to the teammate's opinions first to not be haste on my decisions, but also to respect them.

Most of the products usually follow this design process It may change by its characteristics.

  1. Identify Problem
  2. Write out every possible scenarios that users will encounter
  3. Find out current trends
  4. Find the images that will describe the mood of the product
  5. Choose direction by building a story based on all the researches
  6. Go into details of people's perspective
  7. Consider the impact of the product that will influence users
  8. Ideations on shapes and features
  9. Explore colorways
  10. Model making
  11. Evaluate Pros and Cons
  12. Marketing strategies
  13. Evaluate material cost and manufacturing process
  14. Prototyping
